You Can Still Make It to Mardi Gras This Year

Still time to snag great Airbnb for Mardi Gras in several towns.

Think you’ve missed the opportunity to make it to Mardi Gras this year?  Well, think again…and consider that multiple towns host great parades…not just Mobile and New Orleans.

Also, keep in mind that often you can enjoy four or five nights in a cozy Airbnb for pretty much the price of one night in a hotel.

For the frugal traveler, this is the perfect combination of saving money and enjoying a unique road trip. See a few sights along the way and then be ready to shout, “Throw me something, mister!”

All along the Gulf Coast and all over Louisiana, there are so many charming towns to choose from. A few of my favorites in Mississippi include Ocean Springs, Gulfport, and Waveland. In Louisiana, they include Slidell, Baton Rouge, and (my all-time favorite) Lafayette.

Why Lafayette? From February 22 through February 25 you could view six parades. Of course, there are tons of great restaurants, musical venues, and a fabulous art scene. You could tour local art galleries, learn about local music (like finding out the difference between Cajun and Zydeco), and try unique food such as boudin or crawfish.

Anyway, just remember…it is still not too late. Start planning right this minute and perhaps you can bump into me next month at a Mardi Gras parade.
