Chomsky: Trump Is Undeniably the Worst Criminal in History

Noam Chomsky recently said Donald Trump is the "worst criminal in history." Your 2020 vote matters for much more than you think this November.

Political intellectual, Noam Chomsky remarked in a recent interview with Democracy Now!, that Donald Trump is “undeniably” … “the worst criminal in history.” He continued, “this is not an exaggeration.”

How could he be worse than Mao Zedong, Stalin, or Hitler? How could this man pose such a threat to the world? We can clearly see he failed us on the pandemic and cost citizen’s lives, but eventually we will recover from this, with his help or not. Yet Chomsky wasn’t referring to the pandemic. He was referring to Trump’s egregious negligence toward the climate crisis.

Trump’s administration has cut back restrictions on power plant emissions, pulled the U.S. from the Paris climate agreements, frozen U.S. Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency standards, replaced the Clean Power Plan with a far weaker rule, politicized scientific evaluations in order to exclude scientific literature from EPA consideration, weakened the EPA’s mercury emissions, and placed the entire world in a far worse situation.

This November we vote for a new president. Like it or not, it will be Trump or Biden. President Joe Biden could place us back in the Paris Climate Accord, but other roadblocks placed in our path by Trump’s presidency will take years to undo. Years is not something we have the luxury of playing around with. We have until 2030 to meet our target rollbacks, in order to prevent further devastation. If we continue on this path of destruction, we are facing some pretty terrible consequences.

Perhaps you won’t be around to see some of these consequences in your lifetime, but your children and grandchildren will.

If we continue on this path, within just 85 years sea levels will displace 10% of the world population, calling for massive refugee crisis, racial conflict, and civil war. The ecosystem will crash and cause a third of life on the planet to go extinct. Even more will die from the heat alone. Food will become barren in otherwise bountiful areas, and one-third of the planet’s fresh water will disappear.

Plants will be unable to absorb so much carbon dioxide and as a result begin to emit it, accelerating the situation. The rising sea will begin to heat up and release massive stores of methane hydrate, leaving nothing but a simple lightning strike to spark explosions greater than nuclear bombs. As the ozone continues to deteriorate, the remaining life will become exposed to severe levels of UV radiation. These are only the events I could fit into a 500-word article.

The point I am trying to get across to you, is your vote counts this November far more than you could ever imagine. You may not want to vote for Joe Biden, but as a human being, you absolutely do not have the time to waste on this current administration. I agree with Noam Chomsky. If we don’t act right now, with the power we have it could mean extinction. Register to vote today and vote Joe Biden this November.
