A pair of rare white giraffes have been killed by poachers in Kenya.
Calling it a "dark day," the Hirola Conservation Program has announced the loss of "Kenya's rare white giraffes ... believed to have been killed by poachers."
The "two carcasses were found by locals."
First discovered in June 2017, the white giraffes have "generated a lot of interests globally and made news in the major outlets."
Check out their photos here.
The pair of giraffes had a condition known as leucism, which results in the "partial loss of the pigmentation."
Even to those who aren't avid animal lovers or conservationists, this should be a sickening and heartbreaking development.
This all may seem trivial given our ongoing pandemic, but what kind of terrible people would do this?
