US State Department Promotes Trump-Hater on Facebook

The US Embassy in Tashkent's decision to promote World Cup champion Megan Rapinoe's personal views, rather than her athletic achievement, is an offensive political attack on the Trump Administration.

source: Facebook

I was surprised to see Megan Rapinoe's New York City victory parade speech on the American Embassy in Tashkent's July 11th Facebook feed.

Yes, she won the Women's World Cup for our country, so it might have been appropriate to congratulate the team for beating Holland at soccer.

However, Rapinoe's record belies the "simple message" claimed by the Embassy. She hates President Trump and America--and has said so repeatedly.

She knelt in protest against the National Anthem as an "F you" to the Trump administration, declared "I’ll probably never put my hand over my heart” again, and announced she would not go to "the F---ing White House" if invited.

Like Muhammad Ali in the 1960s, Rapinoe is a winner who symbolizes radical opposition to the US government--and thus is a darling of the Left. Her public words and actions demonstrate hatred of the President, of the Constitution, and the American people who put him in the White House.

In my opinion, promoting Rapinoe's personal views, rather than her athletic achievement, was a deliberately offensive political attack from an Embassy responsible for advancing American national interests.

So I tried to find out who was responsible, emailing Katherine L. Starr, Deputy Director of the State Department press office that day, to ask: "Who authorized this Facebook post about Rapinoe?"

Hi Katherine,

I was surprised to wake up to this post this may write something about it and would appreciate your response.

Please let me know the answer to these additional questions below by email by c.o.b. today:

*What guidance has been provided to US Embassies about Rapinoe?
*Have other embassies done similar posts?
*Are Ambassadors aware Rapinoe disrespected the flag and President Trump?
*Does State Department endorse such poor sportsmanship?
*If not, what will be done about it?

Thank you.

All the best,

I can't say I was surprised not to receive an answer because the Ambassador appointed by President Trump is officially responsible for Embassy posts on Facebook.

His name is Daniel Rosenblum, and he has an official website that shows he knew what he was doing since he has experience with public media, as it says in his official biography:

Daniel Rosenblum was sworn in as U.S. Ambassador to Uzbekistan on May 9, 2019. From July 2014 until July 2018, Mr. Rosenblum served as Deputy Assistant Secretary in the State Department’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs. His responsibilities included managing U.S. policy and diplomatic relations with the five Central Asian states: Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. He directed State Department support for six diplomatic missions in the region, helped set policy and programmatic priorities, and frequently served as public spokesperson. During his last year in this position, Mr. Rosenblum also oversaw all the Bureau’s regional and public diplomacy activities, including transnational economic and security issues, educational and cultural exchanges, and outreach to the media in both South and Central Asia.

Like Washington's undiplomatic British Ambassador, Ambassador Rosenblum must be replaced.
