The Worst of the Worst – Volume One

The most horrendous music video of all time.

We live in a world that takes itself too seriously. From Left to Right, we spend entirely too much time finding ways to disagree. What if we instead focused on those things that we all can agree on – like when something is really, really good? Or, alternatively, really, really bad. I prefer the really, really bad – because it’s often something no one can disagree on. If it truly is that bad.

And I don’t mean the decision-making of a particular politician or political party because those types of things can always be seen from two completely different angles. I’m talking about those things that bring out the exact same feeling in all of us -- whether it’s embarrassment, pity, or that creepy skin-crawl thing if severe enough.

Social media is very fond of posting lists, everything from the top 10 best horror movies to the top 30 cities to live in the U.S. if you’re single. Those types of lists.

But I say why not cut to the chase? Can’t we just find out what exactly is considered by some to be the best of the best, or, the worst of the worst?

I will make every effort to present in this series of articles only those things that stand out as potentially the worst of all time. I now feel that someone has to do it.

And it was the video that inspired this.

I offer you -- exhibit A. A music video (which I stumbled upon while looking up something completely different on YouTube) that will make you do a double-take, and wonder what the hell was actually going on in the world at that time (1967) to make ANYONE think this was entertainment.

Honest to God, I had no idea Leonard Nimoy was a singer.

In fact, I didn’t know he ever did anything other than the Star Trek franchise and “In Search of.”

The latter being a documentary series that holds up well even by today’s standards of investigation. I enjoy an episode here and again, and like to look up updates on the various topics to see what’s changed since the show aired in the mid-1960s.

Sadly, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to look at any of those programs again without feeling the atrocious earworm planted by this video. I defy anyone to find a video as bad as this one. In some way, I feel guilty about doing this to anyone – but it needs to be shared. It’s that bad. Truly, the Worst of the Worst.

My apologies in advance for the lingering willies.
