THE LATEST THINKING

I was just about ready to give up on it and switch to Chrome.
Mozilla just introduced an updated version of Firefox, its web browser.
Years ago, someone convinced me I "had" to switch to Firefox, I think, from Safari.
I'm not a technoid and don't pay much attention to such things.
It would never occur to me to switch browsers; that sounds like work.
But my friend, way back when, said Mozilla represents the good guys — it's a non-profit dedicated to cleaning up the web.
So I switched; mostly, I guess, to make this guy happy.
But in recent months, I've had cause to use Chrome, and it seemed noticeably faster than Firefox.
Well, Firefox just came out with something new and I have to say, it's MUCH faster than it was before — possibly faster than Chrome.
I wouldn't know how to time the difference in a scientific way, but I just opened some pages using both browsers and counted "one thousand one, one thousand two ..." It felt like Firefox was faster than Chrome.
I was reading in the tech press a while back that some thought maybe Mozilla was on its way out. I can assure you, with this new Firefox, Mozilla is BACK.
In the world of tech, I think it's wise to be circumspect before declaring any company dead — or the next big thing, even. Everything changes so quickly.
As the ancient Greeks used to say, the only thing that's permanent is change.
