It’s long past time we as a society stopped giving a pass to certain awful people and a few institutions that, quite frankly, ain’t what they used to be.
The zeitgeist of 2020 is lauding people and establishments undeserving of such kudos. Without any further ado, here are some folks and fixtures we should quit feigning as wonderful and worthy of praise.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: Let’s stipulate that AO-C defeated a 10-term incumbent in the 2018 midterm primary before going to defeat her GOP opponent in the general election, making her, at age 29, the youngest woman ever to serve in the United States Congress (House of Representatives). Since that impressive achievement, it’s been all downhill, mostly in the form of the big-government and socialist drivel she spews. Think the ridiculous “Green New Deal.”
Also, for someone who graduated from Boston University with a degree in economics and international relations and has an I’m-smarter-than-you smirk permanently plastered on her face, she comes across as rather dimwitted and ill-informed in a lot of her public statements. For example, she recently called a statue of Father Damien, a priest who ministered to a leper colony in Hawaii, an example of “white supremacist culture.”
Jerry Nadler: How many ways has the House Judiciary Committee Chair embarrassed himself recently? Let us count the ways. Earlier this year, the petite and portly progressive provocateur was passed over by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in favor of Rep. Adam Schiff to be the lead impeachment manager, even though the Judiciary Chair traditionally handles impeachment.
Little more than a week ago, in a stunning display of denying reality, Nadler called the violent and destructive Antifa rioting in Portland, Oregon, a “myth,” before going on to be humiliated by Attorney General William Barr, who spoke on the same subject in testifying before the Judiciary Committee. That Barr was barely allowed to get in a word edgewise by various Democrats interrupting him, but still managed to make Nadler and company look petty was a thing of beauty.
The Democratic Party: Once liberal in the classical sense of the word, today’s Democratic Party has gone so far left as to be unrecognizable to sane people. The party as a whole believes America was and still is a terrible country that needs saving by uber-leftists and their plans for government to be all things to all people.
When it comes right down to it, the Democratic Party is about acquiring power at all costs, which explains why, generally speaking, Democrats are looking the other way at all the looting, rioting and violence going on across America; because they think it will help them defeat President Trump at the ballot box in November. The quest for power also explains Democrats foisting on the American public a man – Joe Biden – they know full well is not in his right mind as their party’s presumptive nominee for president of the United States.
Next Week: knocking down a peg or two a few more people and organizations.
