The people of the U.S are always fighting for something and with it being the Fourth of July lets us talk a bit about some of the more positive fights that the U.S has had for both its freedom and that of its citizens

As the thunderous fireworks roar throughout the night and into the early morning of the next day, I find myself ruminating on the country I live in. For all the faults that the U.S has, and boy does it have a lot of faults, I believe that this country and the constant fights for the freedom of its people over its many years of existence creates an environment where many people will put their best foot forward.

The U.S from inception was a nation created by people yearning for a place for freedom. The original settlers that came here were seeking out religious freedom and a place to start over. While they remained under the thumb of the British Empire there were still many among them that yearned for something more, and when tensions escalated and the settlers fought a revolution for freedom, it was clear that that moment in time was the start of something big. After gaining freedom from the British Empire, there was still another fight that had to be fought: the fight over the rights of the black people whose backs this nation was built upon, and against the institution of slavery and racism that long stood in their way.  After a bloody Civil War ending in the 1860s, the fight for civil rights started to eventually culminate in the 1964 Civil Rights Act. In modern times it would be LGBTQ citizens who have to fight for their own rights.

At the end of the day, the U.S is a country where there is a constant fight for freedom for various types of people. For as much as a struggle that it is and all the pain that some people go through in pursuit of that freedom that stands as a testament that the people of the U.S will fight for their right freedom, and that is quite admirable no matter what country you come from.
