The Cost of Running Away

Do you want to be the kind of person who wishes problems away?

When you favour the short-term gain of not having to contend with a difficult issue, all you’re doing is screwing over future ‘you’. You might be lucky, and that problem will go away.

But if your mind is drawn to it, that’s your animal brain telling you something requires your attention.

If your bills are mounting up or you see your spouse is going through a hard time, but you’re too busy or stressed to care, you can postpone your worries.

No matter how good you think you are at this, life will always catch up. You can’t twist the fabric of reality and hope to get away with it.

If you avoid thinking about a serious issue in the present, it’ll come back to make your life a living hell in the future.

Even if you happen to get lucky and that problem solves itself, think about what that ordeal says about you.

Do you want to be the kind of person who wishes problems away? Sooner or later, your luck will run out. You’ll be a pathetic version of your former self and an embarrassment to what you could have become. You’ll always be at the mercy of your environment.

The alternative is to be the person who doesn’t back down from a fight. The effects of that positive mentality will multiply in all the dimensions of your life.

As you face problems early on, you realise it’s a much simpler task than waiting for them to grow to an unmanageable size.

Life will seem easier, and you’ll have more time and energy to dedicate to what you deem worthwhile.
