Tell the Truth!

Telling the truth is still the best policy for the President.

Here are sayings about the word “truth” that I was believing for eighty-years: Honesty is the best policy; You should always tell the truth; If you tell the truth you do not have to remember anything; Truth is always pure but not simple; and Truth is stranger then fiction.

But today, with President Trump it seems like his reality in telling the truth is different—“If you tell a lie long enough, people will believe it.”

Out of all the presidents that I have lived through, I believed that they thought the same thing about truth. Or, I thought that way about Presidents, because I believed that they were trying to improve our country.

But today, here is a president who does not care what he says about anything. He just keeps lying and lying and there are many, many, people who know this, but they still follow him and believe in what he tells them.

Also, common sense tells you what he is saying is not true, but the people who follow him don't seem to have a clear judgment regarding what he says.

Here are some examples: In 2016, President Trump told the citizens of the United States that he will show his 2016 taxes, as every candidate who ran against him did, and they believed he would. As of today, three years later, he has never shown, nor does he intend to show, his 2016 taxes.

He made an outrageous promise that he knew how to get Mexico to pay for a wall that would stop illegal immigrants who are trying to get into the United States.

He lied to the United States citizens because he wants them to pay for the wall that no one needs, and many United States citizens do not want.

He has closed down part of our government and is waiting until Congress gives him a specified amount of money to build an unwanted wall.

Is it going to be, from now on, that when a president wants something that we don’t need, he will just lie about it until he gets it?

I might be old fashioned and my years might show it, but I still think telling the truth, especially when it's the President of the United States, is the best policy for our country.
