Svetlana Lokhova's Spygate Exposed: The Conspiracy to Topple President Trump is a fascinating personal account by the woman at the center of the "Russiagate" hoax which led to the impeachment of President Trump.

Lokhova describes how a wild rumor that she had an affair with General Michael Flynn, based on a single dinner party, served as a pretext for FBI, CIA and NSA spying on the Trump campaign by the Obama administration.

She details how this derailed General Flynn's selection as President Trump's 2016 running mate and subsequently as National Security Adviser. In addition, Lokhova describes how the Flynn case sparked an effort to persuade Vice President Mike Pence and the Cabinet to oust President Trump over allegations of Russian influence.

Although Lokhova doesn't mention it, the stage had been set for the Flynn accusations in the case of General David Petraeus, head of the CIA in the Obama administration.

He fell victim to scandal when an extramarital affair with biographer Paula Boardwell became public after their Yahoo emails were published in American newspapers in 2012. That scandal also damaged the career of General John R. Allen, U.S. commander in Afghanistan, as his emails with socialite Jill Kelley were revealed.

Curiously, then-FBI Director Robert Mueller delayed investigating the Petraeus & Allen scandals until after the 2012 re-election of President Obama -- the same Robert Mueller who later prosecuted General Flynn for "Russiagate."

Ironically, Lokhova's book provides evidence that "Russiagate" may have been a foreign influence operation -- connected to British intelligence.

Many are familiar with the name of former British intelligence official Christopher Steele, Lokhova gives eyewitness testimony to personal involvement by Sir Richard Dearlove, former head of MI 6 (known as "C"), now Chair of the Board of the University of London, Master of Pembroke College when she met General Flynn at dinner there.

That encounter sparked a damaging "honeypot" rumor report.

Her mentor Sir Christopher Andrew, who taught the history of intelligence at Cambridge, and also attended the dinner, subsequently published a Sunday Times article making allegations against General Flynn -- eventually retracted after complaints from Lokhova.

In addition to providing to tantalizing hints about British spies meddling in the 2016 American election, Lokhova's book also makes a strong case that America's Republican Establishment was a party to the plot.

Republican Stefan Halper is named as the American professor who reported rumors to U.S. intelligence. He had served in the Nixon, Reagan and Bush administrations, as well as working with CSIS, a Republican think-tank (his father-in-law, Ray Cline, had been a top CIA official). Lokhova gives him the code-name "Walrus."

According to Lokhova, Halper's reports were shared with "Never Trump" staffers for John McCain, Mitt Romney, and the Bush administration. Hostile reporters included Robert Costa of The Washington Post -- alumnus of the conservative National Review and Wall Street Journal ... as well as Cambridge University.

Widespread GOP participation in Spygate may explain why nobody has been brought to justice to date by Attorney General Barr.
