President Biden Not Standing Up to the Far Left: Spineless

The new White House tenant appears to be all-in when it comes to progressives’ lunatic plans.

Newly-minted President Joe Biden has been busy signing executive orders at a blistering pace. Among other things, these executive orders imperil thousands of jobs, threaten America’s energy independence, kowtow to hostile foreign powers and erase the gender distinction in school athletics.

But it's not just what Biden — who campaigned as a moderate — has done that confirms he has thrown in his lot with the more radical elements of the Democratic Party; it's also what he has not done.

Take the fiasco that is the upcoming constitutionally dubious Senate impeachment trial of former President Trump that will probably not result in a conviction. The political-legal proceedings will almost certainly be a distraction for a Democratic-controlled Congress that should be focused on helping pandemic-ravaged Americans.

And yet none of these concerns have moved Biden — ostensibly the head of the Democratic Party — to exhibit true leadership in the form of doing what’s best for the country by stepping up and telling congressional Democrats to stand down in their ill-fated prosecution (persecution?) of Trump that could not only derail Democrats’ legislative agenda, but possibly make a martyr out of the ex-president.

Likewise, Biden seems to have misplaced his vertebrae in dealing with Democrats who want to pursue another imbecilic idea: packing the Supreme Court of the United States of America.

During last year’s presidential campaign Biden deflected for weeks on whether he would seek to increase the number of justices on the nation’s highest court if elected president. He did, however, eventually say he is “not a fan” of such an endeavor.

But he hedged his bet by stating he would turn to a bipartisan commission for recommendations on what changes should be made to the Supreme Court, calling the current system “out of whack.”

“Out of whack,” of course, is code for the grievous sin of there being a conservative majority of justices on the Supreme Court.

To his credit, Biden really does seem to think packing the Supreme Court is a bad idea, which it is. It is to his detriment, however, that now-President Biden has chosen to punt — rather than confront — the issue. He is taking the coward’s way out by launching the creation of the aforementioned commission to study reforms to the Supreme Court and the federal judiciary.

Biden may very well view this commission as a way to delay having to deal with more extreme Democrats who want to pack the Supreme Court.  There can be little doubt, it seems, the plan is to use the commission as cover in an ill-advised attempt to change the size of the Supreme Court to benefit Democrats.

One wonders what other manifestly terrible ideas Biden might tacitly endorse: federalizing elections on a permanent basis, granting statehood to the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico to permanently lock in Democrats’ control of the Senate, nullifying the Electoral College
