Random Thoughts

The author succumbs to the temptation of putting out a second consecutive “Random Thoughts” column. There is simply too much going on to pen a single-subject piece.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle need to fire their PR people. Few things are as insufferable as multi-millionaires whining to a billionaire (the great and powerful Oprah) during a global pandemic.

Didn’t this country fight and win the Revolutionary War so Americans don't have to give a rat’s patootie about the royal family?

Democrats and journalists are more upset about allegations of sexual harassment against New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo than the 15,000 people who died from COVID-19 after being discharged to nursing homes early in the pandemic and the subsequent cover-up of that fact by the Cuomo administration.  To focus on the latter would mean having to admit being wrong, wrong, wrong about Cuomo's allegedly sterling leadership during this once-in-a-century health care crisis.

The nearly $2 trillion — that's right, TRILLION — COVID-19 relief bill the House is about to approve in its final form is nothing of the sort. It's a pork-filled monstrosity that is a testament to graft, political patronage and waste on an unimaginably vast scale. The days of Congress passing targeted, timely and temporary legislation are long gone.

A recent headline in The Washington Post — "Biden stimulus showers money on Americans, sharply cutting poverty in defining move of presidency" — demonstrates the newspaper's political bias and ignorance of basic economics.

It's as if the ChiComms tell the climate change crowd what it wants to hear. Then the ChiChomms do — or don't do — whatever they deem to be in the best interests of China.

China's policy of forcing foreign visitors to endure anal swabs to screen for COVID-19 could result in, ironically, the nation's tourism industry taking it up the arse.

The name of the organization is Black Lives Matter, but recent developments make it seem like green is all that matters.

For the left, Asian-Americans don’t count as minorities in terms of academic achievement and economic status. But when Asian-Americans are possibly the victims of a hate crime, then the left regards them as minorities under the boot of systemic racism.

It has been sad to watch "The Bachelor" host Chris Harrison so eagerly give up his dignity in groveling before his identity politics overlords.

Cancel culture proponents would do well to heed the wise words of historian Herbert Butterfield: "If history can do anything, it is to remind us that all our judgements are merely relative to time and circumstance."

The Washington State Senate's recent passage of a capital gains tax — violating the longstanding constitutional precedent prohibiting non-uniform taxes on income — is typical of the arrogant Democrats in control of government in the Evergreen State. They ignore the state Constitution, court rulings and the will of the people in pushing for a suspect income tax on capital gains.

An all peanut butter Reese's Peanut Butter Cup is an exercise in pointlessness.
