Random thoughts on the passing scene.

Given that President Trump likely won’t be removed from office, the sooner the impeachment circus/trial is over, the better. This has been and will continue to be a partisan exercise in futility that will only succeed in hardening the hatred Republicans and Democrats have for each other, much to the chagrin of the American people.

What would Martin Luther King Jr. – who championed the content of one’s character over the color of one’s skin – think of the left’s pimping of identity politics more than a half-century after the civil rights leader’s death?

Does anyone else think Rep. Jerry Nadler, with his diminutive but rotund stature and waddling form of bipedal locomotion, resembles Batman villain Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot – aka The Penguin?

The Charmin toilet paper TV commercial that features anthropomorphic bears fretting over who should pick up underwear off the floor makes no sense in that said bears never wear any clothes in any of the advertisements.

It clearly pained the folks in the mainstream media to have to report no violence went down at the recent gun-rights rally at Virginia’s state capital. It’s another blow to the fourth estate’s preferred narrative that law-abiding gun owners are a menace to society. Likewise, journalists who had been pushing the pro-Second Amendment gathering as a white supremacist event were disappointed to find out that minorities, LGBT folks and women showed up in force at the event.

Virginia Gov. Ralph “Blackface” Northam, who declared a state of emergency and temporary ban on guns on Capitol grounds prior to the pro-gun rally, took credit where credit isn’t due by bragging that he “de-escalated” a peaceful assemblage.

Noah Berlatsky’s recent opinion piece – “Trump voters motivated by racism may be violating the Constitution. Can they be stopped?” – surely ranks as one of the most absurd of recent times. He basically wants to criminalize dissent.

Sen. Charles Schumer’s 1999 letter about the impeachment of President Bill Clinton beautifully encapsulates the blatant partisan spite and out-in-the-open hypocrisy on steroids of Democrats’ current efforts to oust President Trump from office on the thinnest of grounds.

There was something hauntingly beautiful about singer David Olney peacefully dying on stage at the 30A Songwriters Festival in Florida. He left this life doing what he loved ’til the very end. Literally.

Boy George – Boy George! – was recently slammed as “transphobic” for not toeing the party line on non-binary pronouns. It’s yet another example that there is no pleasing the Church of the Poison Mind – that is, uber-woke scolds who can’t abide that someone – anyone – dares voice a dissenting opinion.

A summary of The New York Times’ endorsement of Elizabeth Warren and Amy Klobuchar as the top Democratic candidates for president: President Trump is Satan incarnate and threatens to destroy government institutions as we know them. So, we are throwing our support behind progressive loon Fauxcahontas AND slightly less-progressive loon Amy What’s Her Face, because – identity politics alert! – they’re women!
