Random thoughts on the passing scene.

If government spending solved problems, America would be problem-free.

President Biden’s proposed trillions in spending makes him the poster child for politicians who deny the fact that as the state increasingly intensifies its encroachments on the nation’s economy, it causes a consequent decline of interest in production. America not being able to meet the strain of some immediate circumstance — like a major war — is a real risk.

Diplomacy, at times, is overrated. Flowery verbiage that conceals a harsh truth or an ugly reality can get in the way of necessary action. We can see that with the Biden administration’s return to conventional diplomacy that is long on linguistic niceties but short on desirable results. For example, Team Biden’s fealty to the currently futile two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict — including restoring funding to the Palestinian Authority — has emboldened Hamas terrorists to attack the Jewish state.

Dr. Anthony Fauci is a physician-scientist who has forgotten more about infectious diseases than most people will ever know. But he’s also a long-time, entrenched bureaucrat. The latter explains his having been all over the map in terms of public policy on COVID-19.

Perhaps Dr. Fauci should have consulted New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo on the wisdom — or lack thereof — of authoring a book during the COVID-19 crisis that gives the impression of profiting off of a pandemic.

Some Democrats would have the American public believe President Trump was, if not a Russian asset, at least severely compromised by the Russian government during his White House tenure. Meanwhile, certain Republicans want the American people to take as gospel Democrats’ ability to stealthily manufacture millions of votes out of thin air across multiple states to steal a presidential election.

The so-called audit of the 2020 presidential election results in Maricopa County, Arizona, is a partisan clown show that is not helping the credibility — such as it is — of the “stop the steal” crowd.

Asking a conspiracy theorist to provide the hard evidence/definitive proof allegedly possessed in support of an outlandish claim is, more often than not, an exercise in futility.

Race- and gender-neutral policies should be the non-controversial norm in America. That government is treating people differently by race and gender is a sad indication of the havoc wrought by the institutionalization of identity as the basis for public policy.

Voter identification is the rule in Europe and elsewhere around the globe. That implies the American left regards much of the rest of the voting world as racist.

Seattle’s woke waterfront is more not-at-all-surprising virtue-signaling nonsense.  After all, we’re talking about a city that is home to — seriously — Climate Pledge Arena.

Hailey Morinico, 17, giving a bear the Humpty Dumpty treatment to save her family’s dogs is a sight to behold.

Reports of a rogue killer drone independently hunting down a human target is shades of SkyNet becoming sentient.
