Random thoughts on the passing scene.
Amy Coney Barrett has been confirmed to the Supreme Court. And yet the Republic has not devolved into a dystopian “The Handmaid’s Tale”-like Christian theocracy.
Remember the good ol’ days when reporters actively sought out the truth and endeavored to hold the powerful – including those in government – accountable? Now, far too many journalists go out of their way to ignore indiscretions, scandals and wrongdoing by Democratic politicians with whom they share a common political ideology.
Joe Biden’s campaign has more lids than a hat store.
Beware the siren song of conventional wisdom presumed to be correct because that’s just how things are or have been done for a very long time.
Hillary Clinton has solidified her status as the sorest of losers in essentially publicly stating she is – was – entitled to be president of the United States.
Chelsea Handler is the epitome of the white liberal savior who thinks she knows what’s best for black people.
Someone should tell Joe Biden the oil industry does not get subsidies – that is, direct payments from government. The fossil fuel trade gets some tax breaks and such, like many other businesses, but not subsidies.
Bernie Sanders, a man who was once kicked out of a commune for laziness, wants to be Labor secretary in a potential Joe Biden administration.
The New York Post’s exposé on Hunter Biden and the subsequent information that has come to light doesn’t necessarily mean that Joe Biden or any members of his family committed any crimes. What it does suggest, however, is that the elder Biden lied regarding not asking/knowing anything about his son’s foreign business dealings, and may have been involved in sleazy and even unethical influence peddling when he was vice president of the United States.
It’s inconceivable to Leslie Stahl of “60 Minutes” that the mainstream media she is part of could be biased to the left, even though it clearly is. The insular world of the fourth estate is basically one big echo chamber that precludes those inside it from realizing they favor Democrats and demonize Republicans in their so-called news coverage.
President Obama’s in-person campaigning for Joe Biden in the last few weeks of the presidential race comes across as tepid and late to the party.
The 5-foot-6-inch James “The Amazing” Randi was a giant in the world of debunking the allegedly paranormal. Randi, who passed away at age 92 last week, took great delight in exposing phony-baloney faith healers, mediums, psychics, soothsayers and the like. He challenged said folks to put up or shut up, and they could do neither, looking even more foolish in the process. Rest in peace, sir.
Wearing a mask this Halloween has lost its appeal.
Anyone denying liberal media bias at this point is either not paying attention, willfully blind or just plain stupid.
