One Good Reason to Watch The People's Choice Awards

For the first time, the People's Choice Awards will air simultaneously on E! and NBC. Kenan Thompson of SNL will host the show on Tuesday, Dec 7, 6 pm PT and 9 pm ET.
I'm excited. OK, I will admit openly that I'm forward to, yet another award show -- The People's Choice Awards. Why do I enjoy award shows? Because I like to see the latest fashions, hairstyles, and makeup and get lost in the land of Hollywood, even for just a few moments. It's simply escapism from the harshness of reality.
The People's Choice will be different. It's set to be hosted by one of my all-time favorite comedians, Kenan Thompson -- whom I love! I'll watch anything he's in because he is consistently funny -- like belly laugh hysterical. Just an expression from Keenan keeps me in stitches. And we all need a good laugh, especially now!
Keenan Thompson came on the scene many years ago. The teddy bear-faced comedian, 43, is a regular on Saturday Night Live. This year is the first time that Thompson has been nominated for Emmys for SNL -- long overdue, in my opinion. He started as a cast member back in 2003 and has been on the sketch comedy show longer than anyone else in the series.
I think Thompson is smart to be loyal to a program that enabled him to hone his comedy chops while at the same time, gain fame as an actor/comedian, working with Tina Fey. His timing is impeccable and those facial expressions; mon Dieu, classic!
Many in the workforce, irrespective of the pandemic, think it's a good idea to be at a gig no more than a couple of years. Millennials have been called 'the job-hopping' generation. But it's not always accurate to paint broad brush strokes about human behavior. Many factors come into play--and you have to be savvy enough to know when enough is enough. You also have to know when loyalty pays off.
In Thompson's case, he was shrewd to stay on the show which propelled him into fame. As the years have gone by, the Compton, California native premiered his own new sitcom, titled "Kenan," on NBC (the same network as SNL) on February 16 of this year. The concept involves a widowed father of two who hosts a morning TV talk show. It received such a positive response that Kenan has been renewed for its second season.
Thompson has done hilarious imitations of comedian Steve Harvey, the host of Family Feud, and as a fictitious host on "What's Up with That?" on SNL. He began his career in 1995 with a successful audition for Nickelodeon's 'All That,' when he did a killer impersonation of Bill Cosby. The comic is also the face of Fandango, the movie ticketing app.
He married interior designer Christina Angeline in 2011 and the couple has two daughters. Thompson looks more dapper than ever, after recently losing 25 pounds.
The People's Choice Awards will be worth watching, with Kenan Thompson hosting, even for naysayers. You can be part of the awards show by voting for your favorite movies, TV shows, music, and pop culture online at votepca.com.
