Colorado Rockies and all-star third baseman Nolan Arenado seem to be in the beginning stages of separation after giving him an 8-year, $260 million extension made in 2018. https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2020/01/22/nolan-arenado-colorado-rockies-trade-tensions/

The Colorado Rockies decided to agree to an eight-year, $260 million dollar contract extension in 2018 which made Arenado the highest-paid player in the franchise’s history. Rumors began to circle less than a year after agreeing to this extension after their staggering 2019 season.

The Rockies season had been a disappointing decline coming off a 2018 wild-card ending with 91 wins to the season. In 2019, the Rockies had faltered to 71 wins and came in 22nd overall (MLB).

With the hunt for free agents, it was a matter of time when the Rockies would consider a significant trade in order to make their way back into the race to become the 2020 World Series Champions -- which led to the conversation of a potential trade involving Arenado just 11 months after the signed extension.

Nolan Arenado went public with a statement saying that he’s being disrespected by the Rockies organization. The loyalty players have for their team is what makes their stint with certain teams enjoyable. Often times, players’ relationships with the organization is a huge factor for their overall performance and are what creates business partnerships among them. Arenado voicing his concern about talks of trade sparked emotions.

In any case, if traded, the focus shifts to which team would best suit Arenado in 2020. The Los Angeles Dodgers have been made a top prospect for the all-star third baseman. With the Dodgers also looking to find big-league trades the addition of Arenado could prove to be a stellar 40-man roster this upcoming season. For now, Arenado says that he is focused on working hard for his teammates and fans.
