No Street Sign

Now you're lost, what do you do?

Several friends and I were discussing the problems that we have in finding an address in cities.

For instance, you are given the address and you get to the area, but there seems not to be a street sign to tell you where to turn. You look at the corners of the intersection, and you still can’t find the street sign. Now you're lost, what do you do?

This seems to happen all the time. You drive several blocks past the street intersection that you were to make a turn on, until you find a street sign. When you find the street sign that you were to turn on, you go back to the corner. You then drive down the street until you find the house address.

Today, you have a GPS (Global Positioning System) to help you find an address. You put the address in the GPS and it starts to tell you how to get to where you are going. You make all the turns and it seems like you're on your way.

Everything is going good, but then it tells you to turn on a certain street, but for some reason there is no street sign to turn on; meanwhile, the GPS keeps telling you turn on that street.

You trust the GPS and take a chance and make the turn. It was the correct street to turn on, but there is no street sign: in other words, you were lucky and made the right turn.

Our conclusion to our discussion: Carry in your car maps of the city. Use the GPS to find the closest intersection, but if you cannot find the name of the street that you are looking for, take out the city map that you carry in the car, and check the intersection for the name of the street.

We found out this is the quickest way to find an address without the name of a street.

If this doesn’t work, trust your GPS and most of the time you can’t go wrong.
