NFL Playoff Predictions

It's that time of year again. The best way to get through the January blues...

I waited until the wild card games were over, mostly because the first set of games fell on Saturday and I don't normally post articles until Monday. At least that's the excuse I'm going with, so deal with it (laughs).

So without further ado, here are the match-ups for the next round and my predictions of the winners right up to Superbowl LIII in Atlanta, GA. Once again the host city is not in the running.

AFC Divisional Round

Indianapolis Colts at Kansas City Chiefs

The Colts have been sneaky good for weeks now and until last week have managed to slip under the radar. That's no longer the case, especially after their wild card win. Kansas City will be ready, and they're at home. But, the Chiefs have that stigma of choking in the playoffs and the same core of players is still there. A refocused Andrew Luck carries the Colts to an upset victory. 37-30 COLTS

Los Angeles Chargers at New England Patriots

While it's never a good idea to bet against Brady in a playoff game, the Patriots are just not striking fear in the hearts of their opponents to the same degree that they've been doing for the past 1000 years. Rivers is due and this is one of the best Charger teams put on the field in awhile. A last minute Patriot drive will fall short. 27-24 CHARGERS

NFC Divisional Round

Dallas Cowboys at Los Angeles Rams

The Rams have arguably the most potent offense in the NFL, but their defense leaves something to be desired, especially against the run. While the Cowboys suffered some losses in the WR position, a healthy Ezekiel Elliot will run amok. Upset of the week here. 28-20 DALLAS

Philadelphia Eagles at New Orleans Saints

Despite being the defending Superbowl champions, the Eagles have no business being here. A lucky win over an overconfident (and quite frankly, overrated) Bears means nothing. Brees and Co. will decimate the Eagles in a laffer. 44-16 SAINTS

AFC Conference Championship

Indianapolis Colts at San Diego Chargers

The Colts' Cinderella run ends here. Rivers wants some ammo when he becomes trade bait next year. The Chargers are going to the show. 35-21 CHARGERS

NFC Conference Championship

Dallas Cowboys at New Orleans Saints

The Cowboys will come marching into The Big Easy and make a better game of this than people will expect. But it simply won't be enough to take down the Saints' juggernaut. 38-20 SAINTS

San Diego Chargers vs. New Orleans Saints

Should be a heck of a game, but my gut is going with New Orleans as Drew Brees wins the game MVP and announces his retirement. 34-31 SAINTS
