More Turkey? How About Some Pickled Packers?

Cranberry or dressing? Green salad or collards? How about some sweet potatoes? Did you save room for pie and ice cream? On Thanksgiving, it's so hard to choose. And, while we tackle some turkey, we also have to choose among many tasty NFL offerings.
On Turkey Day, we fans can pause our partaking for a moment, take a look on the wild side, and get a glimpse of Lions feasting on Buffalo wings. But not so fast — those barn-storming Bills could also stampede through Detroit. Better get another plate and settle in to watch the spectacle.
In the second of three Thursday Throw-downs, the Cowboys will try to play Giant-killer. In just one seasoning, the “NFC Least” has become the “NFC Feast”.
The Thursday night-capper will feature Bill Bellichik’s pernicious Patriots testing the mettle of the Vikings, who, just last weekend, saw their grog spilled as their boat was ingloriously sunk. Can they right the ship?
For NFL fans stuffed with turkey and football, Friday and Saturday offer a respite — unless they get hooked on those tasty college games. Regardless, the NFL menu is completely refreshed on Sunday.
In an offering with heavy cream for two divisions, the Bucs take on the beleaguered Browns, who find themselves in an early win-or-stay-home situation. Equally as tempting will be the pre-playoff clash of the Titans and Bengals, impacting AFC home-field advantage.
There’s a lot to consume when two purveyors of old-school football, the Falcons and the Commanders, serve up a line-of-scrimmage head-knocker. Neither team was even supposed to be on the menu at this point (if you believed the pundits), but here they are, still making gravy in the NFC.
One more Saints loss would likely conclude their sour seasoning, so they must stash the gumbo and taste test those red-hot 49ers. Meanwhile, hungry Seahawks might well be spotted picking Raider carcass.
On Sunday night, fans who are still hungry can pick a peck of pickled Packers. Unfortunately, Green Bay's nearly-last stand comes with Philly cheese — against the high-flying Eagles.
If, after Sunday, the tryptophan hasn’t put everyone into a deep sleep, then certainly, the Steelers and Colts on Monday night will finish the job. I won't call them turkeys, but both teams look like toast — and not the kind that makes a good sandwich.
I already did some feasting, enjoying a nice 11-3 record last weekend. Here are all of the Week 12 matches — and my picks:
1. Bills at Lions Lions TF
2. Giants at Cowboys Cowboys TF
3. Patriots at Vikings Vikings TNF
