Limiting Joe Biden During His Second Term

Biden is currently the favorite for re-election
President Biden is currently the heavy favorite to win re-election in 2024 given former President Trump’s stranglehold over the current GOP. There is a golden opportunity to defeat the weakened incumbent Biden, but it will only happen if the Republicans nominate a serious candidate who does not carry all of the personal and legal liabilities that Trump does.
Even though Biden will likely win a second term, the U.S. Constitution provides tremendous safeguards against a president’s ability to unilaterally undermine the freedoms of Americans. The American system of checks and balances and co-equal branches of government is vital to preserving what the United States represents. The Judicial and Legislative branches are just as powerful as the Executive branch.
The conservative majority on the Supreme Court has become a complete roadblock to liberal attempts to try to redefine what the Constitution means. Some major examples include the Court’s decisions to preserve Second Amendment rights, protect religious liberties, limit the power of the executive branch, and overturn Roe v. Wade to send back to the states. The Supreme Court has the final say on what the U.S. Constitution actually means, so having a solid conservative majority that can potentially last for decades is key.
The Republican Party currently controls half of the Legislative branch with a slim majority in the House of Representatives. This has prevented the Democratic Party from being able to unilaterally transform the economy into one that is dependent on unlimited government spending. Speaker Kevin McCarthy must work hard to preserve the House majority heading into Biden’s second term.
It is also the responsibility of RNC Chairwoman Ronna Romney to work with grassroots organizations like Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point USA nonprofit that is dedicated to educating young voters about the ideals of the United States. Given the fact that Republicans are currently losing the 18-29 year old vote by a nearly 40 point margin, the RNC needs to wake up to the fact that it needs to start funding more voter outreach efforts. Grassroots organizations do not have anywhere near the amount of funding that the RNC does.
The Republicans may also gain control of the Senate in 2024 given that they only need to pick up two seats. However, this will only happen by nominating quality candidates. In 2022, the GOP threw away several Senate seats by nominating Trump- endorsed candidates who were not endorsed based on their merits. Trump makes his endorsements based on whether the candidate has said nice things about him.
Even though the current Republican Party has been weakened by Trump, it will be able to continue to act as a roadblock to Biden’s plans to expand the role of government in his second term. All it takes is having control of at least one co-equal branch of government. Biden will not only be weak in his second term, but he will also be incredibly ineffective at implementing a liberal agenda.
