It's The Love Plane?

Love, exciting and new/Come aboard, we're expecting you/Love, life's sweetest reward/Let it flow, it floats back to you/It's the Love Plane!/Soon will be making another run!

There's really nothing quite like flying is there?

You arrive two hours before your plane is scheduled to leave. You dutifully take off your shoes, your belt, your jacket, your sweater, etc., and you place all that on the conveyor belt. Then you add more to your personal pile with your handbag, wallet, cellphone, laptop, carry-on luggage, smartwatch, I-Pad, Nintendo Switch, X-Box One, PlayStation 4, etc.... Once that's accomplished you're then able to properly go through security, and with any luck at all, you won't get singled out for added scrutiny.

Now, once you are through that ordeal, you put your life back together in mere seconds, as others behind you wait impatiently for you to put your shoes back on. Then, God forbid you get hungry. That requires buying fast-food at prices so high that you may begin to wonder if the world outside has suddenly lost every morsel of food, and this is only place selling it. After that you might think sadly about how you're leaving your loved ones behind, but suddenly you remember that you can't wait to get on-board... so that you can find new fellow passengers to fall in love with!

Wait, what?

Yes, apparently, to Diet Coke and Delta airlines, this is the way we all travel. According to reports, 'during snack services on select Delta flights last month, travelers were given Diet Coke-branded napkins' suggesting 'that they give their name and phone number to fellow passengers' that they may want to make a love-connection with.

Sounds normal, right? Kind of like the Love Boat, only in the air.

Uhh, actually not so much.

Apparently, encouraging total strangers to 'bust a move,' (as Young MC used to sing way, way back in the day) is not appropriate. The design of the napkin had a written suggestion on each side of it. The front read, "Because you're on a plane with interesting people and hey … you never know." The other side continued with a place for you to write your name and phone number down. Then, in small print, there was some more encouragement with, “Be a little old school. Write down your number and give it to your plane crush. You never know …”

Personally, I never thought that a plane ride was an ideal place to start a brand-new romance, but of course I could be wrong. I'm sure it's happened with others, but I've just never had that experience. I mean, between my ears popping from the cabin pressure, to me white-knuckling the tray table during strong turbulence, I guess it just didn't seem like a good idea.  Plus, there's always the chance that you meet the love of your life but then something happens to the plane, causing fear and screaming while you're flirting.

In any case both Delta and the Coca-Cola company have issued their apologies. Maybe they were just trying to jump-start everyone's upcoming Valentine's Day?  How romantic!
