Ever had that million dollar inventive idea (or service) that you just knew could change the world? I'm about to share mine with you because I know that you're mature enough, and kind enough, to handle it without laughing at it...right? Right?!

I love wacky and amazing inventive ideas.  I don't know why, but I do.  I'm the guy that you see on the airplane combing through the SkyMall magazine just waiting to come across the next doohickey (is that still a word?) that will utterly change my life. To this day I would love to own one of those Sofa Over Arm Caddy Organizers.  Have you seen those

They're just a little ugly, which is why (my wife won't let me) I don't have one, but I can still imagine owning one and finally knowing where the remote control is in my living room. That would be amazing.

Now, I myself have dabbled in the art of dreaming up the next big inventive idea. In fact, one time I sat my family down to let them in on it. I just knew it was going to blow them away because the idea itself came to me seemingly out of nowhere while I was showering, and it literally took no effort at all on my part to put it all together. Like none, whatsoever.

Those ideas are THE BEST!

So, I gathered my family around. I waited until I had their full attention, then I sprang it on them.

U-Drive!

What's that you ask? Well, it's a taxi service, much like Uber, only I had this idea years before Uber was a thing. So...did Uber steal my idea? Ha! They wish! My idea was so much better. Here's how it would work: You would call for your taxi, when the taxi arrived, the driver would hand you the keys, get in the back of the taxi, and let...you drive!

U-Drive!

I know, I know, it was a fantastic idea, and yes, it is so sad that instead of a warm reception I received nothing but laughter and derision, followed up with snickering and shaking of heads, much like you're probably doing right now.

The main thing that brought it to a crashing halt were two questions. One was, 'How would the car insurance work with something like that?' and the other was, 'What if the customer has no idea how to drive?' These questions were then followed up with...well, you guessed it, more laughter and more derision.

The good news is that I did not let this get me down. All it meant for me was that I needed to go back to the drawing board, or in this case the shower stall, and wait patiently for the next amazing idea.

I'm still waiting to this day.

However, I take comfort in searching for and reading other articles about wacky inventions. I highly recommend you read: 30 Weird And Awesome Invention Ideas. The Ostrich Pillow is on my wish list! It's a must-have, although I'm wondering how people breathe in it. However, I figure they wouldn't sell it if it wasn't safe, which still gives me hope that U-Drive will still someday become a reality!
