I Splurged for Once

I say goodbye to my 2011 MacBook Air and say hello to my new HP computer.

As an online undergrad student, internet access and a computer are essentials. A few days ago, my 2011 MacBook Air decided to give me its final farewell. I tried to look online to see if there was anything I could do, and of course, there wasn't. And I was definitely not going to the Apple Store and spend a crazy amount to get it fixed. I tend to keep and use things until they are no longer useable. And I can honestly say that laptop was with me since day one of my college career.

I decided that, since I never do, to splurge on myself and purchase a brand-new computer. I browsed various websites and YouTube videos on what were the best options for 2020. I did not want to purchase another Apple product (no offense to those who admire their products!), so I opted for a Windows computer. I haven’t used Windows since my dad put in one of those bulky, boxy, manilla-folder colored computers in my childhood room.

I desperately needed to purchase a computer right then and there that I could easily pick up that day. I then remembered Best Buy was right up the street from me and they offered 1-hour curbside pick up. Score!

A few hours of indecisiveness later, I purchased the HP - 23.8" Touch-Screen All-In-One. While the price was not my favorite, I bought it anyway. I figured that since I haven't bought anything new since I was 18 years old (now 23), it was time to put on my "big girl pants" and treat myself. And without a big console to set up and put under my desk, this all-in-one instantly became my best friend. It is quick, reliable, and the screen is perfect for writing and watching YouTube videos.

I never buy anything for myself unless it is something essential, such as groceries and gas. I may be frugal and a minimalist, but it’s what makes me happy. I don’t need fancy materialistic objects to bring me happiness. I should only purchase what I need, and what I will actually use. And I definitely indeed to keep this new computer around for quite some time.
