How the Impeachment Dilemma is Imploding the Democrat Party

Democrats need to come back to reality and focus on the issues that really matter to the American people. If they want to take down President Trump, it will have to be done at the ballot box.

In mid-April, the 448-page Mueller Report, which showed no evidence that Trump colluded with the Russian government or committed obstruction of justice, was released to the public. Despite the Left’s effort to manufacture a case against Trump, the report’s conclusions were a huge victory for the President.

Not surprisingly, the Left has not begun to focus on what it takes defeat Trump on election day, as Trump Derangement Syndrome is still coursing through the veins of the Democrat ranks. Here are some of the things that Democrats have said and done since Mueller’s findings became public:

Democrats are pushing for Trump’s impeachment anyway.

Democrats still want Mueller and Barr to testify.

Democrats suddenly pivoted to the release of Trump’s tax returns.

Nancy Pelosi said she wants to see Trump in prison.

In my opinion, the Left’s response to the Mueller Report indicates that even the report itself was part of a larger witch-hunt against Trump. If Democrats respected due process and the rule of law, they would have accepted Mueller’s findings and begun to focus on the effort to defeat Trump at the ballot box. Unfortunately for Democrats, their irrational attempts to subvert the result of the 2016 election through impeachment are undermining their ability to have a legitimate victory against Trump in 2020.

The last thing Democrats need is for Trump to have more chips on his shoulder than he already has, which indicates that either Democrats aren’t anticipating Trump’s ability to throw the subversion attempts back in their faces or they’re throwing everything on the line not only for impeachment proceedings to come to fruition but also for those proceedings to lead to a guilty verdict. The latter is a tall order considering that Democrats only control the House and, more importantly, that two years of investigations have led to no evidence of impeachable offenses.

Democrats are entrenching themselves in the establishment framework - the machine that attempts to eliminate outsiders and maintain the status quo. In 2016, Trump won convincingly by styling himself as the underdog who was fighting against the powers that be. If Democrats were smart, they would take a page out of Trump’s playbook and turn that narrative against him - branding Trump as a corrupt, unscrupulous politician who has manipulated the system for his own enrichment at the demise of the country.

The fact remains that, whether Democrats realize it or not, Democrats are now the underdogs who have an uphill battle to take back the Presidency. Instead of treating the Trump Presidency as an illegitimate, bad dream, Democrats need to win over the hearts and minds of the people if they want to take back the White House. However, Democrats are so focused on the effort to impeach Trump that they may have lost the ability to garner public support for their agenda by focusing on the issues that really matter to the American people.
