Big ups to the In the Dark crew and APM!

Last year, I reviewed the podcast In the Dark which details the case of Curtis Flowers in Mississippi.

I won't recap it here, but suffice it to say, I still feel that this is one of the most riveting and important (yes, that kind of important) pieces of work in recent memory. As a result of the fine work of American Public Media (APM) and the In the Dark Season Two podcast, the case of Curtis Flowers made it to the Supreme Court.

The producers of the podcast, like myself, were convinced something was wrong in these numerous trials of the man. I was so convinced that I said if Curtis Flowers was guilty of the crimes for which he was charged, I would eat my shoe. I am one step closer to NOT having to eat my shoe.

To be clear, this wasn't just a close 5-4 decision of the court. It was a decisive 7-2 victory for justice. In this political climate, that counts as a solid rebuke of District Attorney Doug Evans, and it will call into question EVERY crime he has ever prosecuted in Mississippi.

This is truly a good news story. It's not over yet, but this is a giant step in the right direction.

Congratulations to APM, In the Dark, Curtis Flowers and the Flowers family!
