Following June's E3 conference, one sequel- and one whimsical element in general- has fans of the original game excited.

The original Luigi's Mansion game, released on the Gamecube in September 2001, followed the titular and rather timid character as he went on his own ghoulish adventure in a haunted mansion. This was, in fact, a launch title for the Gamecube console, one in which Luigi had to vacuum up dozens of unique ghosts in order to save his brother, Mario.

This game is considered a classic (and it is one of my personal all-time favorite video games) because of its haunting charm and timelessness. Because of popular demand, Nintendo created a sequel that was released in 2013 titled Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. While this successor did make multiple improvements upon the original, including online gameplay, more Poltergust (Luigi's vacuum) abilities, and better graphics, a lot of fans were left underwhelmed due to the very bland nature of enemies in the game as compared to the eccentric ghosts of the first.

To hopefully remedy this disappointment, a third installment was recently announced to be released sometime at the end of 2019. During June's E3 Conference, we finally got to see in-depth gameplay as well as all the newfangled add-ons (and more unique enemies) to the game including one adorable addition that took the gaming industry by surprise: Gooigi.

Gooigi is a slime-like clone of Luigi, but his gooey form allows him to slip by things like spikes and thinly-spaced bars in order to solve the many puzzles in the game. In short, he is absolutely adorable and anyone who cares at all about games, the Mario franchise in general, or just has a fondness of cute things is pretty obsessed, to say the least. The game already looks amazing, and if Gooigi is any indication of the gameplay on a larger scale, then Luigi's Mansion 3 won't disappoint (at least I hope).
