Hatred is trending on Twitter, and it wasn’t even intentional.

[9/7/19]

You know, I only had coffee this morning. I usually get a bagel with cream cheese and tomato, but I get to chew on something that is much more universally delicious. Something that is stimulating to everyone's taste buds.

Hatred.

Doesn't the sound of it just make your heart pump and your mouth water? No? Then check what's trending on twitter because that is what's being served. Order up!

The hashtag—excuse me—promoted hashtag HateLike is not surprising to see, but it is concerning for one reason: People, as they often do, misinterpreted the information!

What little have realized is that this is an advertisement by Hotels.Com that has already been on TV. When someone is always showing off, you hate them, but you like the picture. You Hate Like the picture.

It’s funny. It’s a good idea for a commercial and I get it.

A lot of people don’t get it.

It seems a hell of a lot of people clicked it because they want to show you who they think is filled with hate, or what they think is hateful. That is what is happening in one part of our Dual Society—the immediate embrace of hatred.

In our Physical Society, most common folk treat others how they would like to be treated because, well, they're right there in front of them, and the personal connection of a physical presence allows most of us to realize we are talking to a Person. We've become more open about our individual views and opinions, but there is a level of physical respect for others that's ingrained in us.

In our Digital Society however, there is no physical presence, and people forget that there is someone on the other side of the screen. That affords people a level of comfort that allows them to leave whatever they want behind in the Physical Society, and react to information how they would if they simply heard the information from a source other than a person—the news, internet, social media, etc. When that happens, you get people who fire from the mouth the craziest s*** anyone's ever heard with no regard for how it will affect inhabitants of this part of society.

Offensive tweets, dumb posts, idiotic pictures that should have been thought about a little longer.

This hashtag, meant to be a funny AD, was hijacked and turned into a hate parade where people can further express the hate they have for just about anything.

Hate of another gender, of other people, of political parties, people's place in life, of one's own family.

It seems like an open call to express yourself on Twitter, but I see it for what it really is:

Hatred is trending, and people love it.

I wish it wasn't, but that's The Latest.
