Supporters and dissenters can agree on one thing: President Trump has been very busy with matters of State.

President Trump’s birthday is approaching, and it’s a good time to remind ourselves of what the President has done while in office. Whether you love him or hate him, Trump has accomplished more in 1½ years than many presidents have accomplished in eight years.

However, Trump has neither been approved of nor scorned based on his actions as president; rather, he’s been judged based on his rhetoric and demeanor by the majority of the media.

Crudely worded tweets and every little progression in the Mueller investigation have unfortunately dominated the headlines and air time. This kind of coverage is undermining any attempt to objectively measure just how good or bad a president Trump really is. That is why I have listed ten of his major actions/accomplishments below that transcend any discussion of his rhetoric or demeanor.

1.       Dismantling Obamacare

2.       Enacting tax reform

3.       Ending Obama-era regulations

4.       Establishing a summit with Kim Jong-un

5.       Defeating ISIS

6.       Terminating the nuclear deal with Iran

7.       Pulling out of the Paris climate accord

8.       Recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital

9.       Beginning construction on the border wall

10.     Initiating tariffs on steel and aluminum from EU, Canada, and Mexico

Trump’s presidential resume is strongly conservative, but he has shown that he can rise above political differences to effect change that he feels is best for the country. Although he cut taxes and decreased regulations, Trump will not hesitate to impose tariffs to protect the interests of American companies and their employees. Such a blend of economic policy hasn’t been seen since the days of President Hoover nearly 100 years ago. It shows that Trump is not partisan, garnering favoritism from both corporate and working-class America.

President Trump may be at his best with foreign affairs, as it’s proving much easier for him to protect America’s interests when dealing with the consortium of world leaders than when dealing with the frozen monolith that is Congress. Trump’s unpredictability and versatility are key. He had the boldness and strength of conviction to terminate the nuclear deal with Iran - even when faced with international criticism – because he knew it was a bad deal. At the same time, he has the instinct to negotiate, which has led him to a summit with Kim Jong-un, despite the fact that most of the world sees him as a madman with whom war is inevitable.

Whether you love him or hate him, President Trump is a man of his word – fulfilling many of the promises he’s made to the American people. As I’ve written in previous articles, the bar was set so low for Trump that many people would have been happily relieved if he had simply used his seat in the Oval Office to play golf and enjoy the luxuries of the White House. The reality is that President Trump is already on his way to securing a second term and being regarded as the next great president, perhaps greater than Ronald Reagan.
