Antetokounmpo had a great regular season and is doing well in the playoffs. He deserves to be MVP.

As the NBA playoffs continue, the league made a huge announcement for its regular season awards.

The regular season awards are prestigious honors given to (individual) players who achieved great things during the season. The NBA gives out awards such as the Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Sixth Man of the Year.

In 2017, the NBA changed its way of giving out the awards. Instead of giving them out during the playoffs, they created an awards show, where three finalist are up for each specific award. For example, the Rookie of the Year award is between Luka Doncic, Trae Young, and DeAndre Ayton. Doncic is considered the favorite, but Young or Ayton could also win. It depends on how the voting process goes.

Out of all the NBA's awards, the most prestigious award is the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award. This is given to the player who had the best season and made the greatest impact on their team. Former MVP winners include Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. Last year, James Harden won the MVP award beating out Anthony Davis and LeBron James.

This year, Harden is up for the MVP once again. However, he has competition. Giannis Antetokounmpo is also an MVP finalist. Antetokounmpo had a terrific regular season and helped his team become the first seed of the Eastern Conference. Harden played excellent in the season, but Antetokounmpo did as well. While the MVP race is a close one, Antetokounmpo has the advantage.

In the regular season, Antetokounmpo averaged 27.7 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 5.9 assists, which were all career highs. His performance led to the Bucks finishing the season with a record of 60-22, their best record since 1981. Antetokounmpo has helped the Bucks become a competitive team that has played well in the playoffs. In fact, the Bucks are in the Eastern Conference Finals, and Antetokounmpo has played a huge role in their playoff success thus far.

Antetokounmpo is a young player with a tremendous amount of potential. The 24-year old forward is an anomaly that plays well on both ends of the floor. He drives to the basketball with ease and can defend multiple positions. At least once a game, Antetokounmpo has an impressive block or dunk that makes a highlight reel. The NBA has not seen a player like Antetokounmpo, and we have not even seen the best of him. This young player has plenty of time to blossom and become even better, and, if he does, the NBA is in for something special.

The race is a close one, but Antetokounmpo ultimately led his team to where they are now and the MVP award should be his, for a truly incredible season.
