I don't care how you vote. But you should definitely vote. is big on the idea of civility and political neutrality.

If enough of us start talking again, surely some good will come of that.

Think of THE LATEST as a place where everyday citizens can explore what's new, move things forward.

We aren't controlled by some big corporation; we don't have an agenda we want to cram down your throat.  We don't allow fake news and trolls who just want to pick a fight.

We aren't trying to claim we are "experts," smarter than you.  Not at all.

The voting line this morning in the Brentwood section of Los Angeles.

At THE LATEST, if we have an agenda, it's civility, honesty, true fairness and balance -- and good ideas that will help us get out of the mess we're in.

Many say mainstream media is out of touch with the real America.  Many argue we now live in "information bubbles," receiving information that reinforces our preexisting point of view.

If you read the daily posts on THE LATEST, you know we showcase a mix of opinion from across the spectrum.

I personally LIKE hearing what Greens, Progressives, Liberals, Democrats, Independents, Moderates, Republicans, Conservatives and Tea Party people have to say.

I think the best ideas generally incorporate "the best of all sides."

At, you can learn what real people are really thinking -- each and every day.

But words without actions are pretty meaningless.

At a bare, bare minimum, we should all vote.  It takes just a few minutes and yes, every vote really does count.

My wife's "I Voted" sticker.  She is really good about studying the issues in advance and telling me how she thinks I should vote.  We're usually around 80 percent in sync.

We all want to do more than just vote, I know that.  We all want to feel like we can have a real impact.  I hope THE LATEST emerges, over time, as a place where actual solutions get debated and eventually turned into policy -- a real grass roots effort.

As the bumper sticker reads, "If the people lead, the elected officials will follow."

But it will take a while for THE LATEST to get to a place where it is recognized as an oasis of good manners and sanity.

Meanwhile, I thank all our readers and writers for their support as we build up THE LATEST into a site with a national and even international following.

It will take a while, but we ARE making progress.

Enough patting ourselves on the back.  If you haven't already, get out there and vote!
