Peacock has a great lineup of free films and television. If you enjoy classic movies like The Shawshank Redemption with Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman, you can sign up on Peacock.com. Tubi.com is another option for free entertainment. Many services like Hulu will offer free trials to watch the 2022 Academy Awards airing March 27 on ABC.

How great to hear that Peacock is streaming some of my very favorite TV shows for free. Who's not up for some Golden Girls therapy?! Informally, I surveyed people of various ages and it's universal -- The Golden Girls rule! Bea Authur, Betty White, Rue McClanahan and Estelle Getty are timeless. So are the storylines, because you can relate any episode to what's going on today.

For instance, in an episode where a friend with a 'secret' comes to stay, the emotions between the women play out as they would in any generation. The episode showcases an old friend of Rose (Betty White) who visits and blindsides Rose by telling her she's gay. Lois Nettleton was cast as Jean, who tells Rose she has fallen hard for her, and Rose responds by saying she feels awkward and embarrassed. This episode was The Golden Girls at their best!

Certainly, a person's sexual orientation is his or her own business, but this show could have been taped today. Human emotions don't change that much. The Golden Girls tackled adoption, addiction, deportation, interracial marriage, sex, and more. The scripts were ahead of their time. I never tire of reruns.

Classic Carol Burnett shows (1967-1978) are featured on Peacock, too -- always great for a belly laugh-- and entertainment at its finest with the brilliant comedian at the helm. Law and Order and Leave it to Beaver are offered up, too. It doesn't get any better, right Wally?!?  Even diehard Kardashian fans can view episodes from their original show.

There's something for everyone, from comedies to crime dramas and game shows. This is a must-see lineup and appreciated in a time when everything comes down to money -- how much you're willing to pay for a stream or service. Kudos to Peacock! Tubi.com is another service I like. It has a wide variety of decent movies and classic shows.

For diehard Oscar ceremony fans, the 94th Academy Awards will be televised live on ABC from LA's Dolby Theatre on March 27. There was always so much hoopla surrounding the nods for the best of everything in film. But the pandemic has changed that. Filming restrictions and low audience attendance have caused shifts in entertainment. The excitement around award shows has diminished significantly. Ratings are way down. Virtual does not equal real life.

Since the pandemic, all my viewing is done at home on my small screen. Do I miss the movie theater experience? For the most part, no-because noisy people and cell phones are distracting. But I still love how giant images and Dolby sound draw me into a story --making the experience larger than life. Seeing films on the big screen makes me live in the action -- true theater of the mind.

Hollywood's' biggest event will be taped live this year. Steven Spielberg has garnered Awards, including Best Director, for his remake of West Side Story. Here's a complete listing of actors, writers, directors, and crews up for awards this year.
