Five Predictions for 2019 Involving President Trump

2018 was a year dominated by Trump-induced headlines. So was 2017 and 2016, and 2015. 2019 will be no different.

1. President Trump will be impeached. With the House of Representatives officially holding a Democratic majority in January, alongside growing frustration with the President among Republicans, expect to see Articles of Impeachment to be drafted. Keep in mind, this doesn't mean Trump will be removed from office. To do that, the Senate has to convict him, and with a larger Republican majority, the chances of Trump being ousted in 2019 seem to be about as good as Kirstjen Nielsen's small heart growing three sizes one day.

2. Democrats will start putting together their strategy for 2020, and will likely muck it all up. The first half of 2019 will see the Democratic Party's front-runners start coming out of the maelstrom for their party's nomination. While there are likely some that would run against Trump and have a legitimate shot at taking it all -- such as Beto O'Rourke, Joe Biden, or Bernie Sanders -- the Democrats have made a lot of questionable political decisions in recently. It wouldn't be surprising if they went with an Elizabeth Warren (who reminds a lot of people of Hillary Clinton), a Corey Booker (who can be over-the-top and a bit of a hot head), or a Michael Avenatti (whose brashness and arrogance is rubbing off on other Democrats).

But, of course, this is the new American presidency. The Democrats will likely run with Oprah.

3. Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump, Jr., or both will find themselves in deep with Robert Mueller. Last month, it became obvious that Robert Mueller's investigation was focusing on Trump Tower Moscow, thanks in part to testimony provided by turncoat Michael Cohen. Both Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump, Jr. have been implicated in this part of the investigation, with Don, Jr. actually testifying as to his role in the plans to build what would have been the tallest tower in Europe. If push comes to shove, and either Ivanka or Don, Jr., or both, are forced to turn on their dad to save their own skin, I don't put it past them to do it.

If pettiness and self-service are genetic, they definitely inherited it.

4. President Trump will get his wall. Since this shutdown of the U.S. government will likely continue into 2019, and the President is seemingly focused on continuing to hold the functionality of the U.S. government hostage until he gets what he wants, I think Congress will ultimately acquiesce and give him the funding he needs to build his stupid wall. I would imagine construction of the wall would begin almost immediately and an already tense border situation between the United States and Mexico will only be made worse.

5. Every 2019 prediction will be wrong. At the end of the day, common sense is suspended when it comes to this administration. Predicting what will happen is a crapshoot and if two years has taught us anything it's that logic and reasonableness do not exist in the space-time distortion that is the Trump Administration.
