The demise of the Packers will likely embolden the Vikings, who at times look like the best team in the NFC (note: I said "at times"). Meanwhile, the Saints have all but clinched the NFC South. I think the Vikings will win their rematch with Packers in Minnesota on December 23 and sail off with the division title. But first, the Vikings will get a major test when they head to Seattle Sunday after a long rest.

If the last two games of Week 12 were a sign, I would say the 2020 Super Bowl will be a repeat of 2013: Ravens vs. 49ers. On Monday, the Ravens did not beat the Rams — they roasted them — one day after the 49ers stuffed their Thanksgiving turkey with Packer meat. The NFL’s two hottest teams will meet Sunday.

But let’s remember that there are five more weeks of football to play before the playoffs. The Vikings and Saints have not yet confronted the top NFC teams. The Niners must survive Baltimore and then immediately head to New Orleans (and it’s not about "let’s have a paraaade)." The Seahawks will also have something to say about where the Niners end up. Only one team can win the NFC West and get a bye; the other team (likely holding an awesome record) is going to get stuck with a wild card! The Niners and Seahawks will meet in Week 17 to settle that score.

I can now call one division title in the NFL: the Saints, with a four-game lead, have already locked up the NFC South title. And I am comfortable narrowing the list of candidates for the two NFC playoff byes down to the following: the Saints, Vikings, and whichever team wins the NFC West.

In the AFC, things are nowhere near as clear. The Patriots, still comfortably ahead of the Bills for the division crown, head to Houston, the current AFC South division leader. The Pats look good to get one of the conference's two first-round byes. I think that the other bye will end up in Baltimore, but tough games lie ahead, and I remain aware that there is an outside chance the Steelers could spoil Baltimore's party in Week 17. In the quest for the top seed, should the Ravens end up with the same record as the Pats, the Ravens hold the tie-breaker.

The Texans have only split their matches with the Colts, and now hold a slim one-game lead in the AFC South. Also, as I mentioned last time, we’d better “remember the Titans”, especially after they dominated the Jaguars Sunday. The Titans and Texans have two matches in the final three weeks of the regular season.

So, fasten your seatbelts; Thanksgiving Day is little more than a warmup for hair-raising matches to come.

Here are all 16 matches — and my picks:
