COVID-19 is the Fault of China from Any Perspective

There have been many questions surrounding the origin of COVID-19, but whether natural or from a lab leak, is China not to blame in either scenario?

In recent days, there has been increasing acceptance of the theory that COVID-19 originated from a lab in Wuhan, China. If this turns out to be true, China will obviously be severely condemned and punished by the global community.

But, shouldn't China be condemned whether COVID-19 was of natural, or artificial origins? There are only two possibilities: either COVID-19 was of a natural, zoonotic origin, or it was artificially engineered and leaked from its original location. China is deeply culpable in either case.

Since we already know China would be harshly condemned if the lab leak hypothesis is proven correct, let's assume for a second COVID-19 is of natural origins. Why should China not also be harshly condemned in that case?

Even if of natural origins, that means the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) failed to contain COVID-19 within the Hubei Province (the Province where the city of Wuhan is located) and within the rest of the nation, by failing to impose necessary restrictions and report proper information.

According to a BBC article, the CCP was "allowing millions of the city's residents to move around the country in the days leading up to Chinese New Year, a traditional high-travel period, in January 2020."

Further, China failed to share crucial information with the global community which could have helped curb the spread. According to a CNN article, confidential internal documents show that the Hubei Province of China had 5,918 new cases of COVID-19 on February 10, 2020. However, public documents deceptively broke down the cases into numerous subcategories, such that the public records showed that the Province had essentially half the number of cases than it truly did.

All of this is simply to say that, if the only two scenarios for the origin of COVID-19 is natural/zoonotic, or engineered and leaked, and that even the scenario that it occurred naturally would warrant much criticism against China (due to their lack of containment and misinformation) then why not begin the criticism now?

Where is the condemnation? Millions of people globally, and hundreds of thousands Americans, have lost their life to this virus. This catastrophe has killed far more people than any event in recent history. Where is the extraordinary anger at the main perpetrator that should logically follow?

Does it not seem absurd that it is grossly lacking? I argue it is greatly needed, and we should begin not only condemnation, but eventually sanctions and perhaps even debt cancelation (as a result of the economic blow that has also been dealt by COVID-19) against China.

I strongly suggest beginning this conversation in your own communities and trying to elevate it to a national level.
