Clairsentience-- Fact or Fiction?

Is it possible to pick up 'bad vibrations' from a person or an area you come into contact with? Yes, I think so.
I got a call in early October from a friend who moved to a new apartment complex. She said that ever since she relocated, she has had an uneasy feeling--a sense of doom whenever she sets foot in her unit. I know Emmy from working with her several years ago, and she is a very rational woman. She retired from a reporting job and is now divorced. I didn't dismiss what she told me as being the rants of someone who needs help coping. Something might have happened there in the past that her heightened insight is picking up on.
October must be a moving month--at least for a few contacts of mine. Another longtime friend and her husband relocated from New York to Pennsylvania, where they bought a home. Fortunately, they are happy in their new environment, near the Amish country.
However, Emmy is very upset and told me she made a mistake moving. She signed a 15-month lease. I told her that nothing was written in stone. You can always check a lease to see if you can sublet if you're a renter or even break it if necessary. That could potentially be expensive, but it might be worth the cost if you're miserable. Or you can try negotiating a compromise.
Rather than blow her off and tell her, "Your emotions are getting the best of you," I recommended she do a little research on the area where she lives to learn the history of the place. Were there deaths there? How did they happen? Was a serious crime committed under her feet? Is the history of the area less than desirable?
Reading this, you might think this writer is prone to a big imagination. Yes, I am. I love getting lost in fantasy; we can all use a great escape. But there is more to this if you scratch the surface.
Clairsentience is a heightened sixth sense that I think we all have. The term means a clear feeling. Some people have a more fine-tuned ability to be clairsentient than others.
I have had this feeling many times in my life--it is ongoing. I might get a 'bad vibe' about someone or an area--and I always pay attention to it. Of course, I try not to assume the worst, and many factors might make you feel turned off by a person or situation. It could simply be an emotional day, but I try to listen to my instincts. They are there for a reason.
Getting back to Emmy, she researched the area where she is living. A discussion with the town historian revealed answers: a terrible hate crime and a murder lurk in the city's background. The reveal has offered her some peace of mind. She told me, "Now I know I'm not crazy." Emmy has decided to stay on and just made an appointment to see a psychic healer. She might even pen a book about her visceral reactions.
