California’s Biggest Dam Needs Snow

On New Year’s Day, there wasn’t much snow in California’s Central Sierras.

In a few days, there will be an Airborne River heading toward California and should drop many inches of water in the San Francisco Bay Area.

When the airborne river gets colder and goes up and then over the Sierra Nevada Mountains, we will have one off the world largest dams filled with water for the summer.

The California’s snow pack is the largest dam in California(a dam hold back water, the snow pack hold water; therefore, it can be consider a dam) that’s the reason the snow pack is very important to the people of California.

When the California snow pack starts to melt the water is caught in small, man made, dams and it’s there when the people need the water.

Another name given this Airborne River is the “Pineapple Express”, which is a tremendous amount of tropical water heading towards California.

When and if this Pineapple Express hits California the water is warm until it hits a high and cold altitude, it then becomes snow.

On New Year’s Day there wasn’t much snow in the Central Sierras, we had to go up to the area where they close Highway 108 for the winter to find snow. But that weekend it started to snow and it is still snowing.

Let’s just hope this snow gives us a good snowpack for the summer.
