After a long decade, the Lakers added another NBA championship banner to their long rows of trophies with their 106-93 victory over the Miami Heat this past Sunday. The city of Los Angeles can now celebrate after years of hardships and the tragic sudden loss of Laker legend Kobe Bryant. Lebron James also celebrates with achieving another great moment hoping to bridge the gap to gain the respect he vows to earn.

This past Sunday, the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Miami Heat after six games to win the  2019-2020 NBA Championship, which is the franchise’s 17th total championship.

After the recent death of Laker legend Kobe Bryant in January, the coronavirus outbreak, and the tribulations the Lakers have faced throughout the years; the Lakers are back at the top of the NBA pecking order.

Laker fans and players are certainly happy with the recent championship win, but no one is happier than Lebron James, who wins his fourth championship ring in his illustrious career.

After missing his first playoffs since 2005 last season, Lebron bounced back from one of his biggest low-points and added another great milestone to his long list of achievements.

For fans of Lebron and basketball, this recent victory should not be about if this solidifies Lebron as the GOAT (Greatest of all time), but this needs to be a humbling moment for fans and haters alike to cherish what Lebron has accomplished before his time comes.

The debate of the GOAT in basketball has probably the most popular discussion among fans and sports media. With the popularity and greatness Lebron has displayed for so many years, the comparison with Michael Jordan about who is the greatest ever continues to spark never-ending arguments among basketball diehards, which invites the usual Lebron haters to always be in every Lebron moment whether good or bad.

Even after this most recent win, there is still another set of the same trends of new asterisks for Lebron to overcome. For years it was about how Lebron only made eight straight finals appearances because of the “ weak east” from 2011 to 2018. You can always find the same comments on many online sites about the negative stigma of his “3-6” finals record before his recent win last Sunday.

Whether it’s from die-hard Jordan fans and of other famous players, the sheer number of obstacles that are created for Lebron to just even achieve approval from them has become tiring.

Anyone can have their different sets of opinions especially in something such as sports, but whether a hater or a fan, we all have to stop letting their own personal prideful vendettas tint the caliber of an amazing player like Lebron.

At this point, it’s not about the stats, accolades, the wins, or if he is the best ever. What matters is fans appreciating Lebron for what he has given to the game for 17 years and respecting his own greatness. It doesn’t matter what you believe or think, Lebron is in his own stratosphere like the other greats, that should always garner Lebron a certain prestige that few players can have.

Through his many triumphs and downfalls throughout his career, no one can take away what he can do on the court, because he deserves to have that belief that he could take anyone who has played the game of basketball.
