As America Struggles, Joe Biden Is the Right Man for the Job

Joe Biden is a man who knows pain and struggle. We have a choice this November to elect a compassionate and experienced leader.

"Joe Biden is as good a man as God ever created." Those are words straight form the mouth of Republican Senator and Trump advocate Lindsey Graham in 2015. This is a common theme among people who know Joe, and there is a reason for that. There is a reason he is the best man for the presidency right now.

In 1972 Biden had just been elected senator in Delaware and was preparing to take office. Right before Christmas, Biden received a phone call informing him that his wife and three children were broadsided by a tractor-trailer while Christmas shopping. That day Biden lost his wife and daughter. The other two boys, Hunter and Beau, were in critical condition. Joe was forced to hold his Senate swearing-in at the hospital by his son's bed. Biden recalls, "Many people have gone through things like that. But because I had the incredible fortune of an extended family, grounded in love and loyalty, imbued with a sense of obligation imparted to each of us, I not only got help," but "I found redemption."

Biden did not step down from his duties as a U.S. state senator, but instead raised his two boys and worked in a political career that guided him to the vice presidency for eight years, under President Obama. Beau Biden was so inspired by his father that he too went on to become a politician: the attorney general of Delaware. Yet as fate would have it, Beau was diagnosed with brain cancer and passed away in 2015. Joe Biden became passionate about brain cancer research and led the Cancer Moonshot program under the Obama Administration. On top of all of this, Hunter Biden struggled with drug addiction for many years. As the parent of an addict, Biden became a fierce advocate for mental health awareness and reform.

Biden is not just another politician who pretends to "feel your pain." Biden is a man who can truly relate to suffering Americans. He is a man who, instead of bitterness, chose love and leadership. That is exactly what we need right now.

America has been through a lot lately, with protests, police brutality, a pandemic, social-media polarization, and a leader who encourages it all. We have two choices this November: a president who seems utterly disconnected from the people, even going as far as to actively seek conflict with those he serves, by way of Twitter insults and from the very podium of his presidency, or a humble and experienced man who can relate to the struggles of the Americans people and desires to help.

I would say the choice is crystal clear. Yet for many it is not that easy. The division in our country is extreme. That is why it is so imperative that we get out to vote. We have learned that nothing is certain about this upcoming election. But as Lindsey Graham explained, one thing is certain, "Joe Biden is as good a man as God ever created."
