America the Stupid

The nation may be slouching toward a future moronic irrelevance.

Dumb is ascendant in America. It’s difficult not to conclude that idiocy has spread across this great nation like a second plague.

The current public face of the not-a-threat-to-Albert-Einstein’s-reputation contingent is Tessica Brown, who recently gained media notoriety for her ill-advised decision to use Gorilla Glue as hairspray. Brown eventually found relief from her situation — which can be described as both hairy and sticky — via surgery.

Brown’s individual act of simplemindedness is one thing, but that she is contemplating suing Gorilla Glue and has hired a full-time agent are indications our society may be on the verge of rewarding this woman for her abject dim-wittedness.

If Brown is the current poster child for the slow-on-the-uptake common folk, then Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez represents the dopey demographic in government. The self-proclaimed democratic socialist may have a degree in international relations and economics from Boston University, but that academic achievement hasn’t translated into real-world smarts for her.

AO-C took to Twitter to use the suffering of Texans due to power outages from a once-in-a-century cold snap to promote her pie-in-the-sky “Green New Deal.” In the process, the gloating AO-C revealed her ongoing ignorance on the issue by cheerleading for more government support of renewable energy that seems to have exacerbated the current cold crisis.

In defiance of Gang Green’s preferred political narrative, it turns out traditional sources of energy (fossil fuels) have a big advantage over wind and solar power and the like in the form of infrastructure that is “hardened” — that is, it’s pervasive and much more efficient at the present time than renewable energy. More frozen wind turbines and snow-covered solar panels are not the answer.

Even the once pragmatic U.S. military, which should be obsessively focused on preparing to defend the nation and its vital interests in the event of an armed conflict, has walked the plank and fallen into the deep end of the vapid pool.

A new Navy task force has produced a pledge that reads like it was written by a woke diversity officer from an American college campus. In a ridiculous departure from its traditional mission, Task Force One — ostensibly established to combat discrimination in the Navy — requires members to “advocate for and acknowledge all lived experiences and intersectional identities of every Sailor in the Navy.”

Meanwhile, China — its government not at all concerned with offending the delicate sensibilities of social justice warriors — is developing biologically enhanced super soldiers.

So, is all this foolery just a snapshot in time that gives the wrong impression of a collective lowering of the national IQ? (After all, the brainiacs at NASA did just land the Perseverance rover on Mars, and America produced COVID-19 vaccines in record time.) Or does it portend something more disturbing: continued economic troubles, massive overspending, and government corruption and political instability that render America a second-rate power?
