During this Women's History Month we honor the many women who have broken barriers and paved a path for many other women to follow, and among those many great women is Kamala Harris.

The lives we all live are owed to at least one woman, and it just so happens that Women's History Month is upon us. We must thank the women who have personally and privately given us the love and care we need, but just as important are the women who have publicly transcended adversity, shaped the world we live in, and have made life easier for women and men alike. History has blessed us with countless women that have left an indelible mark on the world, but most recently, Kamala Harris' presence as Vice President has been as inspiring as it has been motherly with the way she is already helping so many Americans with her work.

It's been two days and not long after Joe Biden was elected President that he was able to follow through on a campaign promise of another coronavirus relief package. The package promised more financial relief to millions as the nation continues to break away from the shackles and chains of Covid-19, and it was already nearly stonewalled by fellow Democrat from West Virginia, Joe Manchin. Whatever Manchin's reasons were for nearly shattering this bill before its inception, it brought to light how fragile this bill's passing was, and all who were observing the events knew this bill rested on Kamala Harris' tie-breaking vote. The bill passed the Senate with the help of 50 Democrats, zero Republicans, and one, very fine Vice President - Kamala Harris. Like a tender, loving mother, Kamala delivered a tie-breaking vote of yes and a breath of relief to the larger part of the nation who are awaiting this bill's help.

Kamala Harris' career accomplishments are immensely influential, and they go back to 1990 when she started working for Alameda County, California's District Attorney's Office. Later, in 2003, she was elected District Attorney of San Francisco and created a nationwide model to help those who were first-time drug offenders acquire an education and find employment. Kamala continued her ascent by becoming Attorney General of California in 2010, and as a true person of her constituency, claimed victories in a $20 billion settlement for those who had lost their homes and another $1.1 billion to students and veterans who were left with insurmountable debt and useless degrees from the predatory, for-profit colleges Everest, Heald, and Wyotech. In 2016 she became the second black woman and first South Asian American to serve in the U. S. Senate.

A woman of Kamala Harris' caliber is rare. She is a true icon of accomplishment for all she has done for women of color and women in general. She has stood stern and fought the good fight throughout her career. Her progressive outlook and desire to help those in need is a motherly display of love given by many individuals but distributed to all on a national scale. Kamala Harris, we salute you and thank you for your service to America.
