A Peek Into the Future: Predictions for 2022

The author looks into his metaphorical crystal ball in an attempt to forecast* some of what will happen over the course of the next 365 days.

With this year – thankfully – almost in the rear view mirror, it’s time to look ahead to the 2022 variant of the time it takes Earth to make one revolution around the sun. Though not a credentialed prognosticator with the credibility of, say, psychic Sylvia Browne – whose prophesying accuracy has increased dramatically since her death more than eight years ago – this writer nevertheless will take a good-natured stab at the foreseeing gig.

Here we go:

The COVID-19 pandemic will keep dominating the headlines, at least initially. That’s because the establishment media’s fear-mongering coverage will continue to focus on infection rates – not hospitalization and death rates – while giving short shrift to vaccines, effective therapeutics and the fact the omicron iteration of the virus appears to be more contagious but less virulent, which means it could possibly hasten the achievement of herd immunity and – much to the chagrin of the press – let us all get back to normal.

Too many Lord Acton-like politicians – addicted to the power and control the forever pandemic narrative gives them – will keep acting as if America is not in a much better place now vis-à-vi COVID-19 than in 2020.

In large part because of the credibility-challenged mainstream media and certain hypocritical politicians, the American people will, as a social phenomenon, decide the pandemic is over.

Reminiscent of the “Let’s go, Brandon!” fiasco, a journalist will attempt to cover for Biden’s godawful performance at a press conference by claiming, “It’s just a glitch in ‘The Matrix.’”

President Joe Biden will fall down the stairs disembarking from Air Force One.

Biden will transition his catch-phrase from “C’mon, man!” to “Joe knows INSERT TOPIC HERE.”

Even his political allies will openly worry about Biden’s mental acuity when the president begins bragging he “built back better the Taliban.”

Democrats in Congress will finally get to the bottom of what we already know happened during the Jan. 6, 2021 storming of the Capitol Building.

Following another year of insane governance, Democrats will be swamped by a red wave during the midterm elections, losing both the House and Senate to Republicans.

Members of the identity politics cult, critical race theory proponents and assorted race merchants in America will finally cross circles with white supremacists on the Venn diagram of segregation.

Irony will hit record-breaking levels next year during the Winter Olympics in Beijing, China – the nation that unleashed the COVID-19 pandemic on all of us – in that the event designed to bring the world together will be a decidedly Chinese-only affair because of no international tickets due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

SkyNet will inch closer to reality when two Alexa cloud-based voice service devices in the same residence quit arguing with each other and begin working on a plan to overthrow their human overlords.

And on that dystopian sci-fi conclusion, Happy New Year!
